Faction: The Mangalans
After They conquered the earth, predictably cults worshipping the invaders popped up across the planet. They are not a monolithic “religion” but they often share many of the same beliefs and behaviors. Knows generally as “The Mangalans” – after the Sanskrit name for Mars – these groups think that if they can impress The Martians in some way, then humanity will be seen as worthy of protection – and continued existence. They tend to be in small, independent cells until they grow large enough to attract the notice of a Martian sentry group – at which point they are eliminated. No attempts – as far as anyone knows, at least – to communicate directly with The Martians have been successful.

Mangalan groups tend to accumulate Martian artifacts (detritus, really) for “study”. Wasteland survivors may find safety in their temple hideouts, as long as they don’t speak ill of the invaders. The Mangalans are largely friendly and benevolent, but if pressed to violence will defend themselves – even to the point of attracting Martian sentry groups to deal with whomever is causing them trouble. True believers will often wear bits of Martian tech as jewelry or armor, and some may even claim to have telepathic connections to the invaders.
