What is it?
We decided to take the short adventure we created for some friends (see our recent session report) and turn it into a Cypher Short. We did this for a few reasons:
- We wanted to try and kickstart our creative juices again, as we’ve been long-stalled on our fantasy adventure
- We really liked the concept
- It was a lot of fun for everyone
- We want to see more community content for Cypher System in the world, so we’re doing our part to contribute.
Where can I get it, what does it cost?
As with our previous work, you can get “Lucy Lucy LeDoux, Where Are You?” at drivethrurpg.com. It will cost you absolutely nothing, if you wish – we’ve set it as Pay What You Want, with a suggested price of 50 cents. We only hope to recoup art costs, as we purchased a little bit of stock art from the excellent Dean Spencer.
What a great deal! Tell me more about this adventure!
We’re happy to! This short adventure came to us, actually, a long time ago. We ran an adventure for friends, converting a 5e adventure on the fly to Cypher System. We had asked the players if there was any type of adventure they’d like to play, and one said “a Noir investigation”. Absolutely intriguing, but we didn’t have one at hand and didn’t feel comfortable completely improvising one. But our mind began to turn, and over time we came up with this adventure idea in response.
As we love Blade Runner, we were happy to set this in a science-fiction future, choosing The Revel from The Stars Are Fire. That took the heavy world building off our plate, and we could attach the plot points we wanted to the anchor points of the setting.
What were you happy with?
We were happy that the adventure was fun for all involved, and that it flowed very logically for the players. They were experienced 5e players, but not necessarily familiar with the Cypher System. They understood the nature of a one-shot, and to bite the hook, work together, and pursue the goal to uncover the story. There was enough structure to keep them easily on track, but enough space to improvise fun NPCs and encounters within the story. We felt that was the perfect amount of detail and space for a Cypher Short treatment of our notes.
What were you unhappy with?
Even though the inspiration behind this adventure was “noir” and we wanted a Blade Runner type feel….we in no way think we nailed it. It needed a little more….something. We’re not even sure what – but it’s definitely missing something we wish it had. We eagerly await Neon Rain, which we expect will have more guidance on building cyberpunk noir scenarios.
Well I’d love to see what, what do I do?
Thanks for your interest, and I hope you enjoy the adventure! Just head over to Lucy Lucy LeDoux, Where Are You? at DriveThruRPG.com, Pay what you feel is fair, and if you’re so inclined – leave a rating and a review.

The concept of turning a casual session into a Cypher Short feels refreshing.
